The REACH Program is a group program for use with  elementary school age children. It is a flexible tool that can be used over ten sessions or an entire school year. It blends nicely with other curricula which may be in use but covers distinctly different areas than other life skills curricula.

The REACH Program (Links are found below) is designed to provide life skills training which enables:

  • increased self-esteem
  • management of emotions
  • effective communication
  • independent thinking
  • appropriate assertive behavior
  • problem-solving
  • assessment and decision-making
  • identification and pursuit of goals
  • taking responsibility for choices
  • prevention of emotional, physical and sexual abuse
  • development of personal resources

Participants develop better self-concepts and higher self-esteem through practice of everyday techniques.

The REACH Program is conducted in small groups or classroom settings.  It is appropriate for use in schools, therapeutic settings and community groups. It can be used as a freestanding curriculum or integrated with existing curriculum materials and program activities.

If you copy or reprint any portions of this program, please credit appropriately.
